Monday afternoon’s tornado destroyed so many lives, human and animal alike. The unbelievably powerful storm rolled through Moore, Oklahoma and left war-like devastation in its wake, including leveling a huge training center where more than a hundred horses, including Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses, were stabled.
Included in that number were the racehorses and eventers belonging to Randy Weidner and Lindsay White, who runs Plain As Bay Eventing. Updates via the farm’s Facebook page show the ground where their stable and home had been, the structures swept clean from the earth. Their truck and trailer were reduced to twisted sheets of metal. The horses lost.
An emergency fund has been set up to assist Randy and Lindsay in the hard recovery ahead. To help out, my fellow equestrian authors and I are putting up a fundraising book sale here at Retired Racehorse. Purchase any of these titles via the forms below and the proceeds from each sale will go into the Randall Weidner Catastrophe Trust. In some cases, quantities may be limited — check each listing for details.
